Talked to dealer in Kingston, Ontario. He said they just received a memo today to inform customers that prices will rise. Sorry I didn't get a lot of details, percentage, dates, etc. He did mention that a $500 deposit now protects the current price for a spring purchase (March 1st). Now that I think of it I'm wondering if that is for bikes on the floor only or if it extends to special order. BTW he did suspect a $2000 to $3000 bump on an Ultra.

I am curious to know what he meant by a $500 deposit protects the current price, I have
ordered a 09 FLHX, $1000 deposit, delivery mar/09 I was told that if there is a price increase, before I pay
for the bike i am going to get hit for extra $$$$, wish Deeley Imports would let the buyer know what the hell is going on, after all there is a damn recession looming and they are
thinking of bumping prices on luxury items that we get at the most 5-6 mths of use.
They should beware this type of crap might just blow up in there FACE!!!!!
What I would like to know from other canadian HD owners is how Deeley got this monopoly and stranglehold on the importation of American made motorcycles.
That's why I bought mine last April when the dollars were par. The current prices are probably the best we will see in Canada. These models were over $30K a few years ago...
same rumour here in Montreal - prices to increase avg 2k in Jan 2009.
glad i got mine in june for 19k when dollar was almost a par. almost traded for a 2009, but loss was to high and they dont have SG in White Pearl.
ride safe. my guess they will still sell here. HD montreal had their best year of sales in 2008 from as long as they can remember. My guess HD will increase prices and if then dont sell they might offer rebates as promotions.
ride safe and nice to see other canadians on this site.

I'm curious about that myself. Talked to another dealer yesterday and his message was inline with how you described your situation. Buy now, get current price. Anything that comes in after the adjustment ... you pay the increase. This particular dealer also said the prices on the floor go up as well. That doesn't make sense to me. Unless they only pay the importer after the sale. BTW he thought the jump would be over $3K on an Ultra.
Hopefully today I will talk to the guy who gave me the $500 down shpeel. Maybe I misunderstood or he didn't explain clearly. It was over the phone. Still when I hung up I was sure that I could put $500 down and had until March 1st to square up on the price ... today's price. Either case I'll post when I have my story straight. Sorry if I got your blood pressure up a bit.
And I think I have a new favorite colour. Saw an Ultra in white gold pearl / pewter pearl. Awesome.
As a Canadian that lives 3 miles from the Washington border, I do NOT shop for my parts and service in Canada,
In the market for a new car for the bride--nothing fancy just a driver Was in Seattle 08 Ford Focus plain jane, automatic take your pick $8200.00
Im Edmonton were I work 08's are in or around $16,000 Exchange difference be damned Canadian are still getting ripped on car and bike prices
My wifes Christmas gift in Canada $600.00 + taxes from Zanotti I was quoted a hair under $400.00 no taxes
The major difference between our two countries when it comes to Harley---used in the states is thousands less than in Canada there is a company in Vancouver that will do all the certifications for $600.00 seems high, if one can go south and buy and ride or trailer home
My 07 FXD was purchased from a Harley finance auction, 600 miles spotless, forwards and some glitter for $9000.00 US I bought it in Alberta for $12,000 great bike and for me the price was right
I live in Ottawa and I sometimes shop at Dream Cycles for parts for my bike. I was on their Web site last week and was surprised to see a message on the home page about price increases. The grips I wanted to order are listed for $10 more than the week before.
So it's not just Harley. eBay will be a little less attractive this winter...
