The GPS is probably right on. My 08 ultra is way off too. When the speedo shows 72 I am going perhaps 67. I asked my dealing thinking that 5% was the norm and this is closer to 7% and he told me that the factory spec was 7%! So I was in spec! There is no adjustment I was told and the only fix was to replace the speedo and since in spec the factory would not cover it.
On my 07 Softail the GPS and the speedo are within a 1/2 mile per hour. So essentially right on.
So trust the GPS. I am surprised that the factory speedo is not more accurate, this is simple stuff to get right. I have better speedo accuracy on my 66 mustang!
This very topic has come up several times in the past. When polls have been taken here I've noticed that most commonly the speedo reads 3 mph UNDER what the GPS reads. My bike is exactly that also.
thats the same in my new silerado....reads 70 on the speedo....nav says 66. I always go by the nav. don't have one for the bike so couldn't comment on that but i'm sure its off too.
I was headed to florida with I notice the same thing...rolling @ what I thought was 80, Gps was reading 76...at fuel stop ask my buddy what his wing was reading and stated 75 on his Gps 80 on the speedo....Cool...
