Drop Shocks from Bitchin Baggers
And I think the guys at Bitchin Baggers told me the spring rate is different from SG to EG.
I have a pair of 10" licks shocks (spring shocks) on my sportster. I went with the haevy duty for 2up. They do offer a standard duty or light duty for solo riders. I also blew one out riding 2up. Now I want to add EG air shocks cut down on the sportster. And also the cut down ones on my EG Standard.
but if a person were looking to lower their bike only an inch, i would go with the hd takeoffs, you have a pretty wide range of air pressure to work with the customize the ride to your comfort level.
i'm thinking (yeah, i know, thats dangerous) that if the standard shocks were cut down, that they would be more prone to bottoming out than the factory shorty's with a heavier spring rate. and thus would require more air to prevent this. am i off base?

I absolutely see your point in the drop of only 1". Why not go with the HD takeoffs. I guess Im looking at more of a personal wieght thing. I am 155 to 165 depending on time of year. I run about 0 to 5 lbs riding solo and usually with the wife on as well. Im thinkin that stiffer springs and 0 pounds will ride and handle a little stiffer. maybe someone who has rode both the cut EG shocks and the SG shocks can tell us if there is any noticable difference.
And yess you may be right that shorter means more air so as not to bottom out. That makes logical sense
