Put on the Mini Beast Air Horn, Oil Temp Gauge, HID High/Low Light Unit and Hog Tune Speakers today.
Damn lights are bright, like looking at someone welding....
Question on the Hog Tunes.....The fairing support bracket is tight against the magnet. I padded it with 4 layers of gorilla tape, so there's no more magnetic pull going on but is this going to affect the speaker output???
I was going to enforce the brackets while I had them off but I decided to button everything up and if they crack in the future, I'll replace them with the SS brackets.
Been a good day.....
Next project is replacing the fork oil with 15W SE Fork Oil......
Just did my oil temp gauge yesterday, did you do yours as per H-D or put the sensor in the pan like I think I saw on this forum recently? I used the H-D "'07 & up" install kit and am not happy with the sending unit wires routed along the front downtube. I tried running them down the backbone, in front of the battery and back up the bottom of the frame but the harness was 6? inches too short. I also deviated from the instructions by wiring the power & ground for the gauge to the power & ground that's already in the fairing for the (removed) ambient air temp gauge, did I do something wrong? cuz the instructions say to get your power directly from the fuse panel. Lastly, how does your gauge fit? Mine has a gap at the top & allows light to pass from the inside of the fairing, looks like ***, guess I'll be pulling the fairing cap back off to try & reposition the gauge.
I had plenty of harness. I ran it down the shifter side frame rail, up into the cavity in front of the battery, under the gas tank trim panel and into the fairing. In fact, I ran my positive and ground wires for the HID lights in the same harness.
I used the hot & ground wires from the air temp gauge. As long as you have juice and a ground, it should work fine. I hope!!
Yes, there is a slot on top of the gauge opening that is not covered by the bracket which secures the gauge to the fairing. I saw that before I put the fairing back on and was going to put a piece of black tape over it. I forgot about doing it and put the fairing back on. Not a big deal, I'll figure out a way to seal the hole. Maybe some black silicone sealer.
I used the extra opening in the oil pan for the sending unit.
