Anyone have issues with their denim paint bubbling? I went to the dealer lastnight to see if he had any '09 FHLX in pewter denim on order or if he could locate one for me and he said he would recommend against it because he had 2 pewter denim returned this season with bubbling on the rear fender.
Did he happen to have another FHLX on the floor in a different color he was trying to sell you? To answer your question I have not heard anything about this bubbling.

Nope he was all sold out. We went in to his office and he was able to locate a FLHX in pewter denim for me and was willing to pick it up...but said he felt obligated to warn me of his experience.
That was nice of him to warn you, but I know a couple of people with denim paint on different bikes that have not had a problem, but that really does not mean anything.
I was thinking of re painting my black SG the pewter denim color. The only thing I saw was on the colorrite web site about fuel getting on a denim paint job. I guess it's because there is not a clearcoat. Not sure if anyone has had that problem or not.
Slightly off topic from paint but dealers say "stupid things" at times. When I was shopping for my new bike I had one dealer tell me that HD ships bikes in all the time that need work or are missing parts. I think he was trying to justify his set up charges but what he did was turn me off from buying a bike from him. He made it sound like MOCO was incompetent and that people would get hurt if they (the dealer) didn't go over the bike with a fine tooth comb. Yea, that made me feel real confident.......
Needless to say, I didnt buy my new bike there and I didn't pay "set up" charges either..
If it bubbled it'd be covered by the warranty. Get the color you like the best.
Maybe not! In 03 my new ultra after about 6 months the inner fairing started fading, looked like oxidation but don't think that was what it was as it actually looked like the gray primer started showing thru bad. Dealer and factory rep said "Sorry HD don't do warranty for cosmetic issues" Just got used to looking at it. If I would have kept it longer would have had it painted. By the way bike was always garaged.
