Default Will it ever end???

I've had my bike now for a year. The usual stuff has been put on it, some chrome accent things, smoked lens, foot board inserts, hand grips, etc. Today I took it in to the shop to get chrome forks and chrome hand controls and a painted inner fairing. I thought that would probably do me. Then I saw a couple bikes there in the shop next to mine and I realized how much more I could do and how much of a difference it would make. I knew of these things, but I didn't realize the difference in appearance they would make. I thought I could do without them! I looked at the other bikes and then looked at my bike, and then realized that the area around my motor actually looked spartan compared to the other bikes. My bike looked so plain around the motor! My bike isn't even out of the shop yet and I'm starting another list!

Chrome inner primary cover
Engine/transmission interface cover
Lifter block covers
Cylinder base cover
And probably some other stuff...

And then there is the things you don't think of. As a result of adding the white inner fairing, the service writer says, "you know when you get that white inner fairing on there, you will really notice the black radio. It will look like a big black square in the center of the white fairing. You need a chrome radio faceplate to cover most of that black and it will match your chrome instrument trim." When will it end!!!

It doesn't end, and that's the joy of it. Just when you think it's all done and you love it, you'll see something that will tweak your brain, and off you go in a completely different direction. Ain't it GREAT!

And why would you even want it to end?

let me explain it to you again -- it's cheaper to be a crack addict than own a HD -- the only difference is with the HD at least you can see where your $$$ went.

I't wont stop -- do not ride a bike with a build motor -- then you are talking major $$$

For the first time since my children were small I'm on a budget -- not that I need to be on a budget but all the stuff I want to do to this bike requires it.

It is fun.

Mannnnn,
I hate to rain on your parade, BUT...leave the covers where they are.
In the box, on the dealer's shelves!

Sorry guys, I'm not a cover man. I think covers cheapen the look.

And NO, it never ends! I'm STILL buying garbage for mine!
New fairing lowers on the way, to be sent to painter and color-matched.
Next Spring I'll be getting TP Rocker Boxes, Billet Tappet Blocks, Billet Cam Cover...no, it NEVER ends!

Chrome inner primary (not a fake cover), chrome lowers and painted inner fairing are all very cool. If you adpopt the "less is more" attitude you'll wind up with a much more "custom" custom. Bolt-on doo-dads are doo-dads, everybody & their brother has those. On the other hand the "less is more" route has been costly too...........either way your screwed!

End...End? Say it isn't so...if I don't customize My bike at least every few weeks...I go through withdrawals! And there's no twelve step program...OMG...I can't even think of not doing something to the bike. Oh the humanity!
