Swore I'd keep my 07 Classic stock. Broke down and started putting the silver "flame " covers on yesterday. Timing, derby cover etc...now i suppose it needs to go faster to keep up with the " flaming" look. dunno yet....
Look at the bright side. If you hadn't spent all this money on your bike you would have lost it in a mutual fund. At least this way you've got something for the money you wasted.
I've had my bike now for a year. The usual stuff has been put on it, some chrome accent things, smoked lens, foot board inserts, hand grips, etc. Today I took it in to the shop to get chrome forks and chrome hand controls and a painted inner fairing. I thought that would probably do me. Then I saw a couple bikes there in the shop next to mine and I realized how much more I could do and how much of a difference it would make. I knew of these things, but I didn't realize the difference in appearance they would make. I thought I could do without them! I looked at the other bikes and then looked at my bike, and then realized that the area around my motor actually looked spartan compared to the other bikes. My bike looked so plain around the motor! My bike isn't even out of the shop yet and I'm starting another list!
Chrome inner primary cover
Engine/transmission interface cover
Lifter block covers
Cylinder base cover
And probably some other stuff...
And then there is the things you don't think of. As a result of adding the white inner fairing, the service writer says, "you know when you get that white inner fairing on there, you will really notice the black radio. It will look like a big black square in the center of the white fairing. You need a chrome radio faceplate to cover most of that black and it will match your chrome instrument trim." When will it end!!!
You're not even started!!! Now as soon as you see a little rust on the screw heads you'll have to at the very least start changing to polished (or polish your own stainless steel) and when you finish with that you'll need an HID upgrade then there's the custom paint to show all that off. Are you sure the scooter's looking good at night?? Got to start lighting somethings up and if they don't make a light for it you have to start doing your own...
And just when you have that right you find out you've neglected the seat...
Almost done nope are you sure you have every windshield for every occasion?
It never ends!!! speaking of which I have just made a new mount for my phone/MP3 player got to get it mounted now so gotta run.
After I had finished decking out my Fat Boy and I traded for a Street Glide. The parts guy asked “What are you going to do to the Street Glide?” I said, “Nothing, all I want to add are the Bag Spears”. Well I didn’t know Bag Spears were about 10 grand. That’s about what I’ve spent (so far).
It’s (or maybe I am) a running joke at the shop that “All I want are the Bag Spears”.
