All of the sudden I experienced a plinking of valves when accelerating and a self ignition turns of the engine after switching it off'... Iam using the stock HD/s original stock spark plugs.
for some reason, I think you might have deposits in the combustion chamber which is wierd for the mileage.
Are you lugging the engine? If you can find a can of "Sea foam" anywhere, put 2 oz per gallon in your tank and go for a good ride.
Is there any deposits on your plugs & what color are they?
Check your timing (too far advanced if I remember) or try a higher octane fuel. It's dieseling. There's a "hot spot" in the cylinder somewhere and it's auto igniting the fuel vapors after shutdown.
