For those of you that use Gerbings equipment, where is the best place to purchase? It is getting colder and Mrs. spiz wants to do more riding before we put the bike away for the season. I am a lucky guy. Last night it got chilly. Brrr.

Buy it locally so they can fit you. If you buy the pants, buy them a bit longer so they come down low on your boots when you are riding so that you minimize air climbing up your leg. (so if you take a 32 inseam, consider a 34 pant)
I think Gerbing is based in Washington by the way.
There aren't any deep discounts you'll get anywhere on this product. Fit is important, you want it snug fitting and wear a thin layer under it. Nice thing is you don't bulk up to stay warm.
PS the jacket/gloves/pants and socks are a great combination along with some type of full face helmet. With that combo, the only thing stopping you from riding is snow and ice.

The Harley heated gear is made by Gerbing. If you buy direct you get a lifetime warranty. I rode yesterday in 40degree rain for 350 miles and was perfectly content with my heated socks/gloves. If it were another 5 degrees cooler I would have put on the heated jacket liner as well. It is definitely good stuff. BTW this time of year is getting into their busy season. If you want the stuff you better order it or you will have to wait up to several weeks. Last year I ordered some pants in December and had to wait nearly a month to get them because they were so backed up.
I've been using Gerbing's since 1985. I have their latest Cascade Extreme suit which is
a two piece suit with lots of pockets and crash padding. Very warm but the back panel
wiring does not cover the kidneys which is a major drawback. Too cold there on long rides.
Other than that, incredible heat. The gloves are very well insulated and will sweat your hands
in open air when the temps climb above 60f.
The crash padding is very heavy but removable. I recommend shopping for CE approved
padding.
You should also consider buying only their heated liners to use in your current gear, or having them wire your liners. About the same cost, but their liners have heated collars whereas a lot of jacket liners have no collar. Also you may or may not want a 3/4 length jacket (their Cascade is).
If you give them your dimensions online or on the phone they will send you the correct size. I've done this several times over the years. They know what you will need.
Get the dual controls to control the gloves separately from the suit. Permanent mounted controls are much more convenient than the portables.
Be sure to get the socks. Only adds 7-8 watts draw. And don't worry about your power supply. I've used this gear on some very low output BMW airheads and never a problem.
For your head there is a rain proof liner found in the Parts Unlimited catalog (in an metric shop) that is far warmer than any expedition weight balaclava. The secret is to keep the air flow out. Cut off the stupid velcro straps and stuff it under the collar of your jacket. Awesome.

I bought mine at a local dealer. Same prices as Gerbings site, but in stock stuff was 20% off. I chose the jacket liner, G3 gloves, dual controller (portable). I ran the lead out the left side of the seat and store the end in my saddle bag bar bag. It takes a little practice, but I just attach the controller to my chaps. I may try to clip it to the bag as well.
if you go onto craigslist a guy in baltimore md has a complete set for a woman.the size is large. i bought the the mens set they want 300.00 for everything coat, pants, gloves, socks, controller and wireing (run search for heated jacket)

We went to a motorsports dealer who had some of their gear in stock. Be sure to check for date codes. We found some that was 3 years old on the shelf. We tried them on to check for the correct sizes then went home and ordered them by phone directly. The ones we tried on had the old style plugs on them, NO sale. Like above we have jacket liners and G3 gloves with duel controllers. forget about the little optional pouch for the controller, USELESS. Just put the controller in your left pocket and adjust as needed.

Thanks for the replies. They have a new factory in Tumwater, about 3 1/2 hours from my door. If I have some time I will check it out, provided they have a showroom. If not, it looks like a trip to Full Throttle in Kennewick. They carry Gerbings and have treated me well when I bought my Tourmaster jackets a couple years ago. The jackets are proven winners but it got a little too cold for the jacket alone last night. Hooking up all the wires has me a little spooked but I assume it is not that tough. I will check out the replies that talked about where to get deals but there is wisdom in shopping local too.
