Rotor & Spring Cover failed??
Not sure how an internal cover could fail but mine did. Changing Primary fluid and found a good sized chunk of metal on the drain plug magnet and saw more come out into the pan. Filled it back up and it worked fine just like before. Took it to the dealer since it is under warranty and had them take a look. They said the rotor and spring cover assy ( part# 40356-07 ) had come apart inside the primary. All repaired under warranty but wonder how it could fail?
Also like to say that I miss the primary inspection cover that was on my TC88. You can't see crap around the clutch and it's a pain to put fluid in it. I had no idea what could have been the problem with out removing the entire primary cover. If the old inspection plate was still there I could have seen the problem.
The best thing about the experience was that I dropped my bike off unannounced at 8:00 at San Jacinto Harley in Pasadena. They called me at 10:30 and apologized that they forgot to ask me if I was using regular or synthetic. I told them Syn. He then shocked me and told me that they had already found the problem, had the parts in stock, completed the repair and just needed to know what kind of fluid to fill it back up with. I was expecting a three to four day wait without a ride. What a pleasant surprise to have it ready before lunch!
My bike is good to go but was hoping somone could tell me more about this part and what could have caused it to come apart.
Thanks!
