Angry Detachable?????

Picked up my bike today after dealer installed my T/Pak. Got home and tried to detach it and it wouldn't budge! Finally took a HAMMER and the butt end of a SCREWDRIVER tapping on the swivel lock to get it 2/3's rotated. I got scared when I thought about not getting it back on and had to use the same method to re-latch the friggin swivel!! Whats up with my docking system? It's an 09 and seems just like the 03 kit was. I know it wasn't cool at all. Can you Guru's give me hand?

I sounds like it's simply not aligned perfectly. The latches won't rotate, the little springs won't trigger, and sometimes the front tabs won't line up.

You might want to take the time to bend/flex the bracket (on the TP) some so it fits easily/smoothly. You can bend it by hand and even the slightest adjustment can make a big difference in fit. The instructions tell you to make sure the rack fits smoothly before you bolt the TP to it, but I found that once the TP was on it shifted things just enough to cause a bind. Attach, detach, bend....repeat as needed until it slips on and clamps smoothly.

At least that's what I had to do on my 07.

Oh, I immediately called the dealer. They said it would loosen up after it gets broke in. I know something ain't right. Thought I might loosen all the bolts I could while it's on the bike and then re-tighten them to see if that helps. It's a LONG and COLD 60 miles back to the dealer.

I just installed my Pak on my 09 SG and had the same problem at first. Before I bolted the Pak on I did have to bend the bracket in a little by just putting some weight on it and now it goes on and off like it suppose to.

Sounds like one of the latches is in a bind, put the bike on a jack or lift so the TP is straight up. Loosen latches and let it settle and retighten.

One other thing, seems like my kit came with several different thickness of spacers, make sure they are the right thickness as per the instuction.
