Default Flhx 2009

Hello,

As I 'm thinking of buying the new 2009 Street Glide I was wondering if anybody, that has allready got one, could tell me if all of the changes on the 2009 really make a bit differrance. I 'm thinking of the handling; brakes; ABS; bigger front wheel; suspension etc.....

I ride a 2006 FLHT standard at the moment and would also like to put the following accessories on the new bike if they are interchangeable: lower fairings( with the flaps...); corbin seat; vance and hines ovals.

Thanks a lot at forehand

Majo from belgium
( the country where, as like in holland, we put majonaise on our fries.....)

I can tell you the seat will not, the 08 and 09's are different due to the larger tank.

If you do a search you will find a couple of people have written threads detailing the changes for 2009. I found significant differences as I test rode both an 08 and an 09 Street Glide during Biketoberfest. I have not seen any posts that say the 2009s were not a major improvement. Your slip-ons will most probably fit the 09.

The rear pipe has been rerouted to go below the motor instead of under the tank - heat reason for move. The 6 speed transmission has had the ratios changed. No more shifting into 6th at 70mph. They also cleaned up the rear fender by removing the bar that goes across behind the seat. Not a lot of major changes but some.

Not a lot of major changes? How about a new frame, suspension, rear tire size and design? Cylinder deactiviation? New ECM programming? I think there are many changes.

I have had mine less than a week. I love it but have only gotten to ride it about 5 miles or so. It's been 20 degrees here.

they are all good heat is controled with the pipes and the rear cyl cutoff. runs better new ecm programing. handles bettr stiffer frame.rear frame rails are stiffer (if u add travel pack it wont jump around like its falling off).bigger rear tire also claims 25%more tread life.2-1 exahust makes a better tourge curve.fillerstrip betweenfender and bags looks better.just to name a few improvments. as for the ride i ride an ultra so i find the factory lowered models ride way to stiff but thats a personal thing.

I've put about 500 miles on my new red sunglow '09 Street Glide this week. I can't compare to any previous years as I have only ridden friends' bikes for short hops. I will give you a different perspective. I rode sport bikes for a long time then had a honda vtx most recently. It was a good handling bike. I like the street glide soooo much better. It is very stable. It handles like a much smaller bike than it is in every situation except backing out of the garage. I have taken it through twisties at high speed; 100+ mph sweepers some 30 mph corners at 80+. It corners like a dream. No hint of any wobble or instability. Pick a line and it sticks. The motor pulls hard and smooth. The bike loves to go fast. I would say it is geared perfect. The brakes are excellent and abs is great.

Love the stereo.

Don’t know how I’ve lived without cruise control.

I don’t know that I have ever seen a more beautiful motorcycle (I may be prejudice since its mine). The fit and finish on the bike is terrific. The back end of the bike looks great with the fat tire and the fender brackets. I will add the Kury curved laydown license bracket soon.

I need to get highway pegs soon. I am used to stretching out with forward controls. The boards are comfortable for me but if I were any taller I would say the seating position was a little cramped.

I switched to an 8 inch Fast Air windshield and that eliminated most buffeting. I may order the 4.5 inch clearview because I like the low look.

Hate the seat. It’s really wide in the front. I'm 5'9" with a 32" inseam. Find myself tip toeing at stops. It’s not the seat height, it’s the width. I think when my C&C seat comes in it will be perfect. I love the look of the fast back.

I will probably wait a little while to add mufflers, intake, etc... After the first of the year maybe a PC V or Thunder max.
