After having ridden 2-stroke four wheelers for a few years and occassional dirt bikes I decided to buy a Harley. I asked the forum a couple of months ago if I should get a smaller bike then work my way up to the bike I want since technically it was my first motorcycle.
The forum was split 50/50 with "get the bike you want now and just be cautious, or ease into it with a smaller bike."
Well, I took my motorcycle safety class, thought hard about what I should buy, and decided to get the bike I want.
I picked up a SG Wednesday. I rode 30 miles that night and I was suprised at how easy it was to operate. I thought I would stay on the residential side streets easing into my new hobby. Within 15 minutes I felt comfortable enough to go to some main streets and had a great time. It sure beat those 250 CC loaner cycles at the class!!!
Well bad weather has prevented me from riding any more but it's great to finally have a bike. I had the dealer add some VH true duals with oval slip ons, the SERT, and High Flow Air Filter. Woohoooo!!!
Thanks for all the help on making this decision!!! Because of you all, I knew more than the sales rep, knew exactly what I was going to pay for the bike, and also knew what parts I wanted to put on . Had to advise the service department about the injector issues and told them to make sure my cd player woulnd't skip,
