i have standard rider backrest, you can adjust height, and tilt of pad, once it is properly adjusted no problems.

If you have the extra dollars, spend them, or wait until you do.
I had an adjustable on my SG and I just couldn't get it adjusted where it was comforable. I wasn't sure I'd need one on the Ultra since the seat is so deeply dished out. Guess I'll ride it for a while and see how the seat "fits" me before I decide. Looking at the catalog it looks like they've changed the way they mount on the newer bikes ('08 and newer)?

Get the "Adjustable" one, no question.

You can adjust it while driving down the road.
Why?
You can move it for a different feel during the day.

Plus it's pad has more cushion than the non-adjustable one.

Get the adjustable without a doubt.
I'm always adjusting it to the seasons, less cloths in the summer and it's forward some. In the winter when I wear more I adjust it towards the rear of the bike.

With the risk of taking us off-subject, I might recommend taking a look at the Mustang. It's adjustable, attractive, and a little less expensive.

I really like this seat... It's new this year and suppose to fit the '08 and later. The backrest is adustable both up/down and back/forth...just not on the fly...

I put 74k miles on my 04 Ultra with the fixed backrest and the sundowner seat, once I adjusted it to my fit I never changed it. Don't see the need for the adjustable but to each his own. I'm going with the fixed on my 09 as well and back to the sundowner seat.

Got my adjustable backrest from Utopia.....maybe not quite as fancy as it is manually adjustable (uses a set screw you can move in and out 'on the fly') instead of the hydraulics you have to mount. Is quality built, looks OEM, and takes less than 15 minutes to install...okay it took me 20 and then I read the directions. Oh and customer service is personal and excellent!! I had some questions and they emailed the answers back almost immediately on a Sunday evening.
