Adjustable, and I do change it "in flight" depending on the length of trip. Adjusts easily, love it! Worth the extra few bucks!

With the risk of taking us off-subject, I might recommend taking a look at the Mustang.
+1.

Do yourself a favor and read all the threads about having to heat and bend the bracket on the H-D backrest to get it to a comfortable position. Not necessary with the Mustang and it will work with all the H-D seats that have the slot for a backrest.

Default Back Rest

Go with the adjustable, you won't regret it.
If you don't you will sooner or latter, so save the money and do it now.

Good thread. I've been considering a backrest and can't decide on a fixed or adjustable. I like the fixed because it doesn't require a lever (asthetics). On the other hand, if you search the topic, you'll find some who say the fixed imposes an unusual angle on the backrest. They suggest bending the mounting bracket in a vise to make the backrest comfortable.

If anyone is looking to get a great deal on an adjustable please take a look at the one I'm selling. It has about 30 minutes of use on it!

I have had and used both. Once I get one adjusted, I NEVER move it. For me one is just as good as the other........... Just as long as ya have ONE!!!!!

On the '09's the lever is hidden under the heat deflector. No bending, just a flick of the lever...It's useless to resist the force.........

The adjustable is so much more comfortable. Spend the extra money!

I've got the adjustable and really like it, but I must say that once I got it set where it was most comfortable I haven't messed with it.
