Yea thats me Duh ! On the 06 SG the bar that go's across the rear fender i guess the tour pack go's to or hooks up to . Question is can i take it off ....does it hold the frame together or something..
dont remove it. it actually helps keep the fender off the tire. I hated it on my 06 road king and wanted to take it off badly...but, alas, could not. there might be some kind of adaptor kit on the market that might let you, do a little research.
They do make a kit for it so I guess it would be okay.
I'm not sure though or I would do mine.

These brackets eliminate the grab bar and license plate bracket when you want to relocate the license plate. The ends have a 1/4"-20 tapped thru hole to allow a variety of end caps to be installed.
I researched and asked and decided it would be OK. More said it wouldn't matter than said there would be a problem so here's what I did. First I unbolted mine instead of using a hacksaw. Then I installed Auto Gem lights where the bracket was. They're run/brake lights. I got the LED ones because I believe they're brighter. Anyhow, I love 'em! Also my fender is in the same place it was before I took the bar off and all my detachables line up perfectly (passenger back rest and luggage rack).
Took off mine on my 2008 Street Glide and replaced with the Klock Werks Curvaceous Upper Fillers For Street Glide FLHX. The bike rides the same and the back end looks so much better.
