I'm trying to find the "perfect" GPS/XM radio combination for my UG. Right now I have Delphi XM on my right handle bar that works great...but no GPS. The Garmin Nuvo (either Harley's version or not) seems to foot the bill.
But according to HD literature, the Nuvo doesn't fit an UG? It would seem I could just replace the whole Delphi unit with the Nuvo and plug in the Delphi antenna. I run the Delphi through the AUX plug and it works great.
Has anyone found the best combination of XM and GPS?
Garmin's Zumo 550 is by far the best m/c gps that is capable of doing it all, satalite radio ready, fm traffic info ready, blue tooth compatable, downloadable custom POI's (points of interest), ease of operation, glove friendly, left hand operational - designed specially for m/c use - it also comes with m/c mount, car mount included.
+1 on the Zumo 550. I use mine for GPS, MP3, all the points of interest you could ever want, and its XM ready to boot. Add to all that the fact its designed to be used on a scoot, so its weather resistant, etc. Great addition to a touring bike!
For motorcycle use, definitely the Zumo 550, hands down.
For automobile use and if you want some hand-held portability and convenience, any of the Nuvi series with TTS (text to speech) so it will speak the street names when giving directions.
Wife and I have a Zumo 550 each, but I also keep a Nuvi 260 in my brief case for convenience.
Thanks folks...looks like everyone agrees on the 550 being best.
Now all I need to do is convince my wife that we should spend the money....guess I could get really lost with her one day until she recommends it to me!!!
Now that sounds like a good plan - always better when its their idea anyway - as for I got lucky and won mine at a benefit ride - makes it even better :-)
