Default 5k checkup

I have an 05 Electra Glide Classic with only about 3700 miles on it. Since the bike is 4 years old already would you recommend getting the 5k dealer checkup next spring? I've got the bike stored for the winter already so it's sitting until April maybe May of 09? Could use some input from anyone

Thanks

I'd do the 5k mile service myself next year when the bike hits 5k miles. Buy a service manual and do it yourself. The 5k isn't much more than changing the fluids.

No harm in doing the service early but if you do, make sure you stay up on fluid changes. Don't want to do 5k at 3700 and forget about keeping up with regular fluid changes.

Should do the fluid changes at least once a year even if you don't do much mileage.

at the rate you are going you will need to do the 5k service in about 3 years or so.

Only problem I can see is the bike never gets out of the garage to need any maintenance.

Yes on the at least once a year for the oil. Used oil contains acidic componds that can harm your motor if left in for long periods.

+2 on the once a year. Not a bad idea at all. That's sounds funny, because i put about 15K a year on my bike, and with the HD service contract i have they service it every 2.5K so once a year just sounds odd.
