I'm going to do what you are talking about but I think I am going to have to wait till next winter because I have to much on my plate for this winter already.
From the research I have done it looks to be fairly simple to do depending on what gauges you are installing (I'm going to install a oil temp and pressure gauge) , my new fairing has plenty of room for 2 1/16 gauges so it just requirers drilling the holes and they just pop in, electric gauges just requirer miner wiring, there is room to put a tee at the oil presssure sight and the new sender will be hidden behind the front pipe and the oil temp gauge goes into the front of the oil pan, there is a 1/4" pipe plug that you remove and the sender replaces it.
What ever you do don't buy Harley gauges you can get 2 Auto Meter gauges for wht one Harley gauge costs.
