That would be 60 months worth for $5 or you can buy 1 for $5 at radio shack. Not being cheap but i did buy 10 for $4 off ebay for my garage door opener and it has been working for a year now on 1 battery.

I have the same fear about the fob battery and I have never set the code since I purchased the bike new in 06. Really like the idea of keeping a spare battery in the bags. That will be my first stop on the way home tonight. thanks!

i've had my 07 for over 2 years and no issues. if my battery dies, i'll use the code until i can replace the battery. i'd rather buy a fresh battery when i need to, then put in a battery that i've had lying around for 2 years or so......

I changed the batteries in both my fobs, last month. I have a 2005, so I just need the fob for the security system. I was worried that I would set the alarm and if the battery failed I wouldn't be able to disable it. I have had this bike 2-1/2 years and still haven't got around to putting my code in. I read in the manual where it says you have to stand close to the bike and hold the button down for I think it was 10 seconds, to reprogram the fob to the system. When I changed the batteries the fobs worked right away, just like they always had.
