Default I Need Heat!

I'm planning on taking a trip in the January/February time-frame to try to find a new area to live, and need some input from people that know the Southwest U.S. I'm planning on about 4 weeks for the trip and I'll be taking my truck. BUT, my police bike is coming along with me so I can do some touring of any areas of interest and get a true feel for them. I'm retired and going through a nasty divorce at the moment, and recently moved from Northern Virginia to Nashville, Tennessee. If anyone reading this is from Nashville, don't get me wrong...I really love this city. I lived here when I was a kid and that was one of the reasons I moved back here. The other is that I have family here. The people here are truely wonderful and there really is a lot to do year-round. Now, I know Nashville isn't known for having severe winters. But, the fact of the matter is that it gets too cold here for ME. And, we've had way more rain here in the past two or three weeks than I can handle. I'm just a real pu$$y when it comes to the cold. I really need to be somewhere that has warm, relatively dry winters. I hate both rain and snow, and I'm not concerned about the summers being too hot to ride, as long as the climate is dry. I know that no place is perfect and I can handle a very short winter, as well as some cold desert nights, just as long as I know the days and many of the nights will be more to my liking. I just want to be able to ride all, or most of the year, and have plenty of sunshine. Also, I would prefer the less populated areas, and I'm especially interested in states that don't have state income taxes, like Nevada and Texas. But, I don't want to restrict myself too much. I have always loved the desert regions of this country, but have never spent much time there in the winter. So, I would be very appreciative of any and all input/suggestions you have.
