Besides tourpak lights and fairing lowers, is there anything else (assuming both have cruise control) to make an ultra $3000 more?i I use my GPS for music so I don't care about the rear speakers or higher power stereo.
My wife and i use the intercom. To us, it is worth the difference. i traded an 08 Classic for my 08 Ultra because of the reasons mentioned. i was able to trade for less money than i could add on to my bike.
Been there done the same comparission--however, my difference was more in the neighborhood of $2000. Of course by the time you include dealer labor cost, if you chose to have them do the upgrades you will be closer to your estimate. I chose the Ultra so I won't spend too much time in the garage adding what I should have already gotten with the Ultra.
Also, any aftermaket accessories you've added after the purchase may not be coverered under the bike's standard 2 year warrantee. My two choices were actually the 09 SG or 09Ultra when I was shopping.
Last I knew it was 2K more. I wanted the 4 speakers, Cruise control and lighting which installed alone would probably add up to over 2K. You also get Push-to-talk intercom w/one headset and CB. I didn't care too much about the lowers but now that I have them I like them.
As far as I can tell (some have been listed already):
Vented lowers
Upgraded tour pack (w/ fitted liner, additional lights)
Cruise control
80w stereo with rear speakers
CB
Intercom w/ 1 headset
Heat shields
Tank emblem
More contrast on the 2-tone paint scheme
(Really cheap) removable saddlebag liners
Did I miss anything?
I wanted several items on the list (rear speakers, cruise, lowers, tank emblem instead of decal), more contrast on the paint, so I felt it was worth the cost differential. Not to mention the residual on an Ultra is higher, so if you add the missing items to the Classic you won't necessarily get any money back at trade-in/sale time.
