Default ABS light on

Hey guys...wondering if any of you have run in to this situation and if so what the outcome was. I have an '08 Ultra Classic and I noticed the other day after starting the bike the flashing ABS light which goes out after 3mph, was solid yellow and did not go out. I rode about 50 miles early this morning and the entire time the ABS was solid yellow. The manual just says bring the bike to the dealer to have the ABS module inspected (of course). I will be taking the bike in, but was wondering what you might have found. I'm hoping it something minor like a faulty sensor.

Funny Gunner! Here's a quick update. Took a spin this weekend and after stopping for a short period then getting back on to ride, the ABS light turned off and stayed off for the rest of my ride home. Then, Sunday afternoon I took the bike for a short 50 mile ride to visit family and the ABS light came back on and remained on. Bizarre! Wish I knew what's causing the problem.

I thought I read in the manual that if the light stayed on service was required?

tda69..I have the '08 SG with ABS and have had that issue. I just brought it in and let the dealer look. I did find that it happens if I get caught in a severe rain. Who knows. The dealer has has given it a clean bill of health everytime. Get it checked just to be sure.

Ride Safe, Mike

I had something similar earlier this summer, took the bike in they found a broken sensor wire on the front end. As they explained it the wire broke across the cross section so that it would make intermittant contact.

When the light is on it does mean the ABS are NOT operating.

Good Luck, ride safe

Hey guys,

Thanks for the input on my ABS issue. I'll get it checked out by the dealer and see what they have to say. Hopefully nothing serious.

ABS warnings = sensor issues

If intermittent, probably a connection issue between the control module and the sensors. Could also be something obstructing the sensor such as debris.

Got the bike back from the dealer and it turns out that it was just a broken wire. All repaired under warranty and now she's as good as new.

I bet they used a very thin wire. I see that in a lot of things they make nowadays.
