I don't think black is boring, per say. I think it's that black is probably the most common color. Most Harley's you see out there are black. It's a great color but it's also a PITA to keep clean. Some folks just want something different and from what I've seen, this Black Ice color is about as different a color as Harley offers!
I was debating on trading my bike in, a 2006 Road King Custom with the Rich SunGlo Blue, and had seen this thread just before I had visited the local Harley dealers and seen a few bikes with that color and I loved it from the first sight. The problem was trying to find one in a Road King model, but a few days later I was told to come in and put down a deposit because they felt they had a trade working-out with another dealer, well this past Tues they delivered the new bike and took the old bike. This thread was a big influence on making the decision to trade-in, so I Thank all that had posted comments on this thread. By the way the color is outstanding.
black is beautiful but i will never own another.it seemed that all i did is clean the g-d damn thing.every time you rode it you had to clean the thing.htey are some of the best looking but you have to be dedicated to keep it looking nice.imo
Well, now that I've got my new 09 Ultra in Red Hot Sunglow / Smokey Gold, I have to say I love the color but unfortunately, it's only marginally better than black in the "how long it stays clean" category. Then again, the bike is still brand new and I'm probably being more picky about it than I'd normally be. Oh well!
The local dealer has that color in a Road King. Really nice. Blue not my color but definitely pops in the sunlight. The also had the 2 tone Rootbeer one in a Streetglide. Myself I opted for the Red this past saturday. In the sunlight it almost has an "Orangeish" hue with the gold flake...... Hope you can get out riding soon. Nice Bike.
So, did you ever get to bring her home? Bet she likes your garage more than the old nasty shop. I loved that color combo a lot. I also liked the 2-tone root beer just as well if not better. My wife liked the root beer so that's the Ultra we got. They are both completely different colors in the sun and shade.
