Angry Damn Condensation

Went out in the garage and took the cover off the bike and it is totally covered in condensation. I put a breathable cover on it when I put it up for the winter and thought that would help but it didn't. I also have it on carpeting vs. sitting on the cement floor. It went from below freezing to about 42 degrees today. I hung a 60 watt trouble light under the bike and put the cover back on it. I sure hope that helps because it almost made me sick seeing a brand new bike like that covered in condensation.

I think this will be the last year storing it at home. Next year will be at the dealer.

Man, we're in exactly the same boat. I had my bike on rubber mats with the Harley "breathable" cover on it. I went to take a peek today and same thing - covered in condensation. So it was wipe the bike down, start it up to dry the moisture where I couldn't get a towel, and then off to the dealer where I bought the "bubble". We'll see if that does the trick. I think it'll help, there's air moving over the bike constantly, but it's not a cheap alternative!

Same problem hear. 30 degrees Monday, 45 yesterday, 70 today and thunderstorms. I just leave the cover off when its like this. I've got a fan blowing under the carport and it seems to be keeping the bike dry, but the concrete is still wet.

Skip the so called "breathable" covers. I went through the same exact scenario too. Pulled that cover off and now use two old sheets my wife was going to throw away. It's in the garage anyway, so only need a cover for dust. The sheets work much much better. No condensation since. I am going to hook up a light bulb underneath too, but not 60 watts. 25 should do just fine and I'll get one of those clamp on aluminum reflectors from Home Depot to clamp under the front end, and clamp it facing the motor.

Whenever the bike is colder than the air (temps rising faster than the cold bike can get warm), you will get condensation on the bike. No way to avoid it unless you keep the bike just a little warmer than the air. That's why I toss a wool army blanket over each bike and stick a 25 watt bulb under each of them. The bulb is just enough to keep the bike warmer than the air and prevent condensation.

Why don't you just run a dehumidifier in your garage in the winter.

Default fan on bike

just run a small fan on a low speed on your bike and it will never sweat. i have run a fan on mine for several years and never had any condensation at all. run the fan year round. guranteed to work!!

It doesn't bother me that mine's got a bunch of condensation today with the weather change. It'll dry out. I sometimes even ride it in the rain, you should see it then!
