I have them installed on a 09 Ultra with MVA 110+ heads, SE251 Cams, 103 Bore, bike sounds great, looks great. and makes great power - 103HP w/103 FT LBS torque.
I notice most of you with the MO have them extending out further then the rear fender.
I have my pipes slid in, where the rear fender protrudes further then the pipes by about a 1/4".
I guess each his own, that's what makes us all unique.
My reasoning behind that is my pipes are black. If I were to push them back any further, they would be touching the heat shields and the flat black would rub off. I do need to re-position the pipes due to something I found and I'll see just how far back I can go this time.
Just swapped out my regular V/H ovals for the Monsters yesterday and they look and sound great. Get them you will be smilin' all the way to the parts counter tellin your parts man he's full of crap !!
AS for the comment on positioning the pipes, you have to make sure and push them far enough up on the head pipe so you don't get an exhaust leak. Clamp needs to be up front too.

Your right on the heat shield contact, my shields are touching the pipes but I'm not worried since their both chrome.
I have them on my 01' Ultra and the sound is perfect for me. My wife loves the sound at cruising speeds, unlike the other two sets of mufflers I've used.
