Sure, sounds good to me! I think its a wise decision to carry the shim of wood on the road. Of course, I am one of those people that carry allot of stuff with me "just in case" and my hard bags are 3/4 filled on both sides with what I call "basic necessities" and for trips I add soft luggage.

I can see how a 1 x 4 piece of pine would get the rear off of the ground for maintenance.

I will also add that Rod (owner of Wheeldock and forum sponsor) is one hell of a guy. He makes a great product and stands behind it.
I agree 100%, I put one on my '07 SG in less than 5 minutes and that was after I returned the first one because I ordered the wrong one. They were great to deal with and would recommend then anytime.

I changed my mind and decided to buy a Wheeldock stand. The Rivco stand lifts the rear wheel off the ground without a wood spacer, has better construction and chrome finish. But there are two disadvantages.

First, in the raised position the Rivco stand hangs lower than the Wheeldock, which might compromise cornering clearance. Second, the Rivco stand has a stopper that rests against the oil pan when the stand is raised (see photo). If the bike bottoms out against the stand, the stopper might puncture the pan. When the Wheeldock stand is raised, it rests against its own structure.

That's what I've done.

Good idea on the wood. Always carried a piece for under the kickstand in soft dirt anyway.

Had an EZ-UP on my 2001 Road Glide never had an issue with it and will put one on my 09 Road Glide too. Use the center stand 99% of the time.

I have the Wheeldock, and it is the best upgrade of 2008 for my bike. If it was twice the price I would recommend it. Great people and a great product.

The bike is setting outside our shop door on the Wheeldock stand right now. We park inside the building when the big boys ain't here they don't work on holidays. Got the stand last week very easy to put on. Only one bolt to put it on. If HD was not such a tight *** they would put these on when they build them.
