I put Rhinehart slip ons on my 04 RK Classic this past summer and just love them, now wish that i would have purchased the whole tru duals system, so here is were my dilema begins. With kits such as the fullsac or torres you just get portions of pipe and heat sheild then re-use some of the stock pipe and heat sheilds if i'm reading correctly. With V&H dresser duals or the Bub cross dresser header system do you get all new pipe and heat shields from front to back? Also is this system going to be much louder than just the rhinehart slip ons on factory pipes? I can't get over the amount of great info on this forum. Thanks in advance for all responses.
As far as the Rineharts TD that arent much louder if any than the slip ons. Was in the same boat as you. The true duals have a more stereo sound with equal exhaust flow coming from both pipes. I'm glad I got them. The advantage to the V&H is that you can use any slip on you want. The rinehart pipe diameter doesnt allow for that option. Good Luck.
I don't think they will fit your bike, but you might want to check it out with Bub. I have a set of Bub7 TD with Crossover I'm going to sell. If they work, it will probably be cheaper than what you are thinking about. Great sound, no loss of power in the low to mid because of the C/O.
The V&H Tru Duals come with all the hardware you need including new full coverage heat shields . BTW , they sound much better , not louder , just better.
Plan A:
Keep what you have. Performance wise the stock headers with slip ons do very well if not better than T/D's. Keep money in you pocket. You already said you love the set up.
Plan B:
Sell the slip ons and get a set of the Rinehart True Duals. If you have to have Rineharts.
Plan C:
Keep the slip ons and install either the Fullsac or V/H Headers. If you are worried about performance the Bassani T/D's should be considered.
Definitely think it over so you will not be spending extra $$$ a third time.
Hey guys thanks for all the great replys. I guess i'm just looking for a little cleaner look and some less heat on my legs with the td's, also a little more of a stereo sound like rjmac said. RjCapp you're right on with my options. I'm still undecided what i'm going to do if anything. With it only being 15 degrees and icy this morning I still have some time to think about it.
I put the true dual conversion kit from B & E Performance, very similar to the Fullsac. Got the head pipe kit and the "Re-cored" mufflers. You CAN'T beat the price, I'm very picky and I am Totally satisfied with the look and sound, feels like more power, but could just be a mind game since there is more sound. The sound is excellent, not too noisy at idle or slow but when you hit it it gives you a perfect sound! They had 3 mufflers, I got the middle of the range, just buy them from him, by the time you ship your pipes, you don't save anything!
True Duals will reduce the heat a little.
I don't think you can use Rinehart slip on with their true dual headers, check with the web site to be sure. If your happy with the sound and just want to reduce heat check out an oil cooler.
