I will have to admit I have only had my bagger for 3 months but owned a Suzuki Volusia and then a VTX 1300 and I believe the Ultra is every bit as nimble as either of those bikes. My wife would have to stop every 45 minutes or so on the other bikes and she has never asked to stop on this bike, she actually rides from gas stop to gas stop. I don't think she would ever let me go back to a non-touring bike! It is really not a bad bike for around town either, just an all around fun bike to ride.
After a 400 mile run with a buddy of mine on his 07 softail custom and seeing him trying to stand up straight when we got there,i could of gone another 400 on my King,so I don't think I will ever go to anything else!!!!!!!
Had a 2000 Heritage Springer that I put 60k miles on and rode it to the lower 48 states the first 3 years I had it........didn't know how unconfortable I was until I bought an Ultra ! Kept the Springer for a couple more years but it was basically just sitting in the garage lonely, so I ended up selling it in `06. I do miss the looks of the Springer....but nope, would never go back. I'm old and into comfort and ya just can't beat the bagger when it comes to that....IMHO!
Can't step backwards when it comes to serious riding
Love those sporty's for playing especially choppers.
BAGGERS for riding.....CHOPPERS for Playing!!!!
Would have kept my Fat Boy, but I like the idea of having no payments on my Street Glide,I work in construction trade, hard to tell what 2009 is going to be like!
A big guy like me to start out with Sporty (Life after Divorce) and did alot of $$$ mods to make it a Mild Custom with 240 Wide Tire Kit. Too nice to ride it everyday so I went out and bought a RKC. Loved it so much and wasn't enough for me so I upgraded to Ultra.
Was just wondering out of curiosity, once you made the choice of a touring bike, were you sorry you did it and wished you had stuck with a softail or whatever you had before? Of course, anyone that WAS sorry may not be on this forum.....but anyway.....
Those that are SO glad they changed to touring.....your thoughts?
The logical answer to this question is to always have other bikes in case the mood strikes you to ride something else. My standards are to have at least 2 or 3 other choices at ALL times.
