I ran JayBrake forwards on my '07 Street Glide. I really liked them. I'm not a million mile rider so if you really put some serious miles on your touring bike I'd stick with the boards, they are more comfortable during the long haul. Also if you have a inseam less then say 32" and are running any kind of seat which puts you back, they my be a little of a reach. Also, the only thing I really didn't like about them is that the shifter has a "longer" throw then the stocker. If I can answer any more questions I'd be happy to. I removed them when I sold this bike, the new owner wanted the boards but I sold them to a member here and I'll try to look up his name and ask him to throw his 2 cents out also. All in all, I really liked them, at the time, i was looking for a whole nother position, layed back chopper kinda feel and you get that. This '09 Street Glide I'm putting togeather? I'm sticking to the boards however..Putt

i'm running the cury cruise mark IV they replace the crash guard for a sleeker look and allow me to rest my heel on the very front of the board with the center of my foot firmly planted on the peg. i got the extended version being 6'3 they are very adjustable and really comfortable this is the best pic i could find if you want more pm me

I haven't seen forward controls that can be used with the front engine guard though.

Sorry to sound stupid, but what exactly are "forward controls"? I see that term often here, but can't quite figure out what they are. Based on the picture above, it's just another peg directly in front of the floorboard???

I'm 6'5" and I know what you mean about the floorboards. I did'nt think I'd be comfortable with them either after having rides on 'Kings, Ultras and FL Softails.
The weekend after I collected my 07FLHT I did an 850 mile 'round trip to Scotland and what amazed me was that I could still walk when I got off the bike. No,not because of the Whisky.
I've always had highway pegs on previous bikes (Dynas) so that gave me the option of stretching my legs out,but I don't like the look of highway pegs on the tourer engine guards. I posted a thread about Kuryakyn cruise arms and one guy posted a couple of pictures of his bike with them fitted, they look pretty cool and he says they're comfortable so I'm ordering a pair as soon as my aftermarket store opens after New Year.
I've taken the engine and saddlebag guards off anyway. I guess the cruise arms bolt to the bottom e/g mount hole. This way I get to keep the floorboards, stretch my legs and up/down shift with the back of my boot-heel.Thats the plan anyway.
If they're good I'll let the World know.

Sometimes I get tempted to switch to forward controls, too. Right now, I'm pretty satisfied with the Kury Ergo bars. Pretty easy to reach, with fold out pegs for an additional position.

I use highway pegs when riding the slab but through the twisties or around town, I like the boards.

Different strokes, I guess but I had two bikes with pegs and made sure the next would have foot boards. I have had since then foot boards and have been happy. The pegs make my feet tired after so many miles but the boards are more restful. I am 6'2" so maybe it is a height challenged thing that short people like pegs?

I had a Linby Twinbar crash bars on my Heritage Classic. Very classy looking and the fold out freeway pegs on the side as well as the space to put your feet on top of the crash bars. (See below)

It just means that the foot pegs, foot brake and gear shift lever are positioned forward toward the front of the bike to give more legroom, as opposed to mid-controls or floorboards.
