I like both, but not enough to lay down the money for Plastic.

They do make locks for leather bags.

I just bought some hard bags because I was tired of cleaning the leather ones. They look nice at the dealer and then they start to wear. I clean them often but I like the hard bag look myself.

I like hard bags for the look and the ability to lock them. Personally I like the look of no bags at all but it really sucks when the morning is cool enough for a jacket and the afternoon is too hot to wear it. Happens alot in Florida.

I was a leather bag fan, especially the RK Custom ones. The hard bags grew on me and am glad I have them.

Quite the dilemma....so for those of us who can't make up our minds keep two pair...less expensive than therapy? And besides it's like dressing for casual Friday, I just don't know which is more casual....

Well for me practicality wins out when it comes to Touring. For styling purposes, I like the leather look, but nothing beats a hard bag when it comes to wet weather and security. I like being able to lock my helmet (tourpack) and other personal items away in the locking hard luggage and not have to carry it everywhere I go. For me, that was a huge motivator to go this route.

I have to say...since I bought the bike I've been completely confused as to why people change out the leather bags for the hard shells...to each his/her own as it is with all Harley customizations!...and...

I really do get the security issue...maybe the convenience of not having to treat the leather...any other reasons I'm missing? Anyone else out there a leather bag lover (which seems to buck the mainstream)?
I like em. They are similar to bags in the 50s and 60s before they had the fiberglas bags. I like them because they go with the bike. Same century technology.
