I have them but took them off last summer when I couldn't find a place that I liked them. My mechanic gave me a tip about a month ago, and I tried it. It worked well, and now they're back on.

Try mounting them low on the crash bar and angled back toward the floor board. This lets you keep your heels on the floor boards and your toes on the highway pegs. It may not work for all, but it was the answer I was looking for. It lets me move my legs out a bit without having them straight out in front of me. I now have three positions because I can still rest my heels on top of the crash bars if I ever want to fully extend.

Just be careful you don't mount them too low. You don't want them to catch something in a low end turn. I've seen it, not a pretty picture.

Most of them fold up. The ends get scratched up a bit though.

There are so many choices for pegs and mounts.

Mine fold up if I feel like draggin' a knee. Ya right!

The actual mounting point is about midway up the side of the crash bar, but they are angled back. When folded out, the pegs actually point backwards towards me and down a little. It seemed weird when I heard about it, but I gave it a shot. Glad I did.
