I have the 8" dark gray on my 09 Ultra. I look over it except for stuff close to the bike, but looking through it is no problem.

Dark grey 8" here too. I look over it except on steep inclines. If I had to look through it all of the time in the dark it would not cut it.

9.5" dark smoke for me works great. Since I'm 6'5" I don't look through it.

Dark CV on mine. I can see thru it fine in the daytime, but I look over the top. I don't do much riding at night.

just installed the 8" dark gray tint. i had same concern.
can see through it and its shield is below eye sight and i look over it , not through it.
id say dark night with no lights around, yeah maybe hard to see throuh it but u dont need to look through for a 8". id say its very close if not same as the stock SG shield.

I have the 8.5" dark smoke which is fine in the daytime, but close proximity at night at stop lights and riding in a formation can be a problem. Just add a little extra separation at night.
