I currently have a Fastaire Dark windshield on my Ultra. The fit and finish is great, but the dark color can cause some issues when riding at night. I'm looking for any input on the difference between the Medium Grey and the Light Grey color offered by Fastaire. Let me know what you think especially if you are using both.
I like the look of the darker tinted windshields but don't want to sacrifice safety.
Thanks....
Prefer the dark. Don't ride much at night due to the deer and other critters out there in the dark recesses of corners and canyons, so it's been an easy decision for me. Whatever color I have though, the height is set so that I can look over, as opposed to looking through it.... So if I do get caught out there after the sun drops down, I'm looking over the shield, not through it...
I had a Fastaire 8" medium grey on my bike and was very happy with it if I was riding the flat lands. If I was riding in the hills, the shield was just at the right spot where I would be looking over it until I started up a good hill and then I would be looking through it. I didn't like looking through the smoked shield when I was cresting a hill because I didn't feel confident with the sight line. So I went back to their 6" dark smoked that I am always looking over and gave the 8" to someone who is taller than I am. I am tempted to try one of their 8" in the light smoke because I do like the wind protection of the 8", I just didn't like looking through it every now and then.
I've got an 8" Fastaire in med. grey and have no issues with it. I have noted the difference when looking thru it, like cresting a hill, but that has not been a problem for me.
I'm running a 9" Memphis Shades on my Street Glide. It's a pre-curved gradient tint windshield, dark smoke at the bottom and the top 4-5 inches are clear. I'm very satisfied with this one, pad about $60 delivered off of Ebay.
I have an 8" in Medium Grey. Short enough I can see over, I ride a lot at night and no problems at all. If looks was only factor I would have chose the Dark, but very happy with the Medium.
