At that price difference it's a no brainer- take the '08 The 09 is suppose to be better but as somebody else said, only until the '10's are out and that's not all that far away.
we only have one dealer in Bahrain, so cant find any other deals, both with ABS and crouse cont., both are the color i want (vivid black), i am planing to keep the bike for min 3 years.
i usualy ride 3-4 times a week (7 months a year) and each ride is about 2-3 hrs (Bahrain is small :P).
i hope i cleared it from my side...
so what do you advice now??
Since Bahrain's mostly flat and handling in the twisties is not a big issue, I'd get the '08.
If those are the numbers you are looking at I would take the 08. If you plan on keeping the bike a long time you will do well. You can do a lot of upgrades with the "leftover change".

If handling in the "twisties" is a big issue, I would recommend about any motorcycle OTHER then a Harley. The '09's may handle better then the earlier bikes but they're still big heavy lead sleds that handle like tanks compared to others.
My '09 RK can rail through corners at speeds that leave many "sportier" bikes shrinking in my rear view mirrors. Like they say, it's better to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow
08... Over $5,000 savings?!? If you want to spend the extra 5,000 upgarde to 103 or 110, get a GPS, with plenty left to go out and eat some buffalo wings or anything else

You 09 owners are killing me. It's like you think your riding a road racer and the 08's are antiquated ill-handling dinosaurs. I have no problem throwing my 08 RKC, loaded with luggage and my wife on the back, through any twistie. Who came up with this crap anyways. Bagger woble is just a way of saying I can't ride a big bike and it's scaring me (boo hoo).
For God's sake they are "touring" bikes not crotch rockets. If you have handling problems, slow the hell down!
Now, I digress, BAH RK
Don't let this brand new bike fool you. The 08 is a way better deal to be had.
6 months from now the 2010 models will be out and this subject will be hit all over again by some other undecided buyer with a killer deal on a 2009 staring him in the face. Face it these bikes loose value just like anything else, so take that and let someone else absorb it and not you!
