Just got done installing my Rush slip-ons (2.25 baffle), PC V, SE a/c kit. Fuel Motos map. Started the bike up and everything is fine except for, when I rev it hard it backfires when I let off. I have the slip-ons on pretty tight, although there is a little condensation dripping out where the mufflers meets the head pipe. I tried calling Jamie but they are closed.
Pretty tight or torqued to the proper value? Exhaust clamps need to be "tight" or the end result can be "popping". Maybe that's not what's causing it in your case but quite often, it is..
I have the same ones and mine do it to when I get out of it. If I shift from first to third then get out of it I get the same thing. Been to the dealer five times and they are idiots. I hope to get someone that understands tuning to fix mine one day.
when i pickup my 06 about a month ago i had the same problem ask the dealer about this said it was normal . this was my first fuel injection bike asked around really could not get any good answers so i started to take it apart to look around and found that my stage one air cleaner seal was missing some pieces so went bought a new one and installed it test drove it ran like a champ. know more backfiring on down shift aim not sure if this is your problem but it may be worth looking at
First step is to be sure you have no leaks. Start by checking the air cleaner. There were a couple of large bolts with small holes in them, these are breather bolts, make sure they are not stopped up, not sure but don't think their is suppose to be any loctite on these for that reason. Start from scratch and re-install the air cleaner. If problem persists, it won't hurt to remove the pipes and re-install them using hi-temp muffler silicone or one member said he used something called muffler cement and worked well for him. If problem still exists after you are sure there are no leaks. Call Jamie and he will advise you on a simple tweak to the map. I had a simular problem on an 06 roadking on which I installed a PC III and made sure there were no leaks, called Jamie and he had me adjust the map 10% richer from 1500 to 5000 rpms and this solved the problem. I'm not telling you to tweak the map without talking to Jamie first. If you have not did the 0%-100% throttle setting you may also want to do this. When I installed everything on the 06, I had absolutely no decel pop until after I did the zero throttle setting, so I knew it was not a leak problem. When I loaded the software and plugged the USB cable into the Power Commander it showed a 6% deviation from zero which was significant enough to need a map adjustment after I zeroed it. You can actually see how much your throttle setting is off just by hooking a laptop with the software loaded into your PC without changing the map. If it is in the same place on the screen as the PCIII it will be on the top right of the screen and should show a percentage. It should also say underneath the line "percent throttle setting" or "percent throttle".

The PC V is differant. There is not really a 0-100 setting. Although, in the live data screen it sows the TPS at 0.

I have the PC V, according to the Dynojet website there does need to be a 0-100, although according to fuelmoto the TBW has had such a small deviation, it has not been necessary to do on any of the ones they have dealt with, like you I choose to trust in their advice. Anyway since you apparently already checked it, that is not a problem. Throttle position appears good to go. If after you decide you have no leaks and if it still has a problem I might would choose to have a baseline dyno done, and if a problem pops up they would be able to solve the problem for you. Those 2.25 baffles must allow a lot of airflow and it may be still running too lean. Best advise will come from Jamie at Fuelmoto.

Any ideas?
I am assuming that you are reving the bike up when you are stationary or not under a load. It is completely normal to have popping when you rev the bike with no load on the motor and any straight thru muffler will pop under these conditions.
Jamie,
Thanks for the reply. Do you think I need to use that Permatex Copper gasket sealer on the slip ons, or should I be ok? There was condensation dripping at the connections. I dont care about the condensation but Sunday I was wondering if they were sucking air in causing the backfire. I had a head pipe come loose on a bike once and it was backfiring, I didnt think it would do it if a slip on was leaking though.
