Default Oil from air cleaner?

Hello everybody, new guy here. I am a BMW owner/rider who bought an '04 Road King Police model (12,000 miles on bike) last year in April. In June of last year, I rode the Road King from where I live in Wyoming to Medford, Oregon in one day (900 miles). Upon arriving in Medford, I noticed slight oil streaks on my rear cylinder exhaust and the side cover on the right side of the bike. No visible oil leaks so I am assuming the oil came from the air cleaner. Is this common? What is the cause and what is the fix?

Thank you in advance for any input or advice.

From my '03 owners manual - Do NOT overfill oil tank. Doing so may result in oil carry-over to the air cleaner......................
I'd check the oil level 1st.

Yes it is common, the heads breather goes into the aircleaner. One thing you can do is make sure your oil is at the proper level (overfilling can cause this) Sustained high RPM will also contribute to the oil. Its really nothing to worry about, just inconvenient.

Thanks for the input. My oil was at the proper level so it must be due in part to the sustained high rpm as I was putting the bike down the road at a good clip.

I really like the solo air ride seat!

Try keeping your oil level at halfway between "add" and "fill" rather than at the top of the range (of course, checked when hot on the jiffy stand) since even if the oil is at the top of the range you will get some oil into the air filter if the bike is run hard.
