I feel your pain.I'm 6-9 and have the same probs.Had my stock seat worked on at a local shop.He took 1 1/2 in. out of the back of the seat and 1 1/2 in. out the back rest.Like said above, sharp turns were hard with the knees hitting the bars.So went with 13" Cyclesmith apes and problem solved.Oh, and also have 5" swing out highway pegs.
The 08 and before Vulcan Nomads are plenty big and long. Felt a bit squashed on my FLHTC after trading and have actually considered going back when the 09's come out. You sit down into those bikes also, not on top as with the Harley tourers.
I'm 6'11" with a 41" inseam. I had the stock seat redone with a local seat guy. Once you take the foam off and you'll see how the fiberglass pan is made. There's a slot made for the backrest to slide into...cut that out and it will allow you plenty of room to move back...put as much foam and the density you desire. I even took mine home to try it on the bike periodically to see how it fit....then you can recover the seat with whatever you choose...leather, gator, ect. I also went with 13" apes to get the bars up off my knees while riding. There's also a guy in Indiana who makes a replacment mounting bracket for your floor boards to move them forward either 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 inches. I also went with a longer floor board which is offered by a few different aftermarket companies you'll just have to pick your flavor. Oh.....I had the custom chopper...it was cool in town and for short blasts but other than that you'll need two bikes. Hope this helps.
6'6" 38 inseam. C&C seat custom made for 1 inch down and 2 inches back. Also some 9" forward accutronix forward controls. The bike fits me better than any other bike I have owned. Accutronix are kind of expensive, but worth every penny IMHO.
6'8" and have the badlander seat and mustang solo. Extend the floorboards shifter and brake, it helps.Just ordered parts for 16" apes this will help greatly. Any other tall riders have to switch out your bars? I found it dangerous when turning with stock bars.
