Default Rider, Overheating

Hey all:

Has this ever happened to you?

Riding in 30ish degree weather, full one piece suit with heated jacket liner.

All is well. I finish 80 mile ride..Go into the house and suddenly I am feeling nauseous and starting to sweat like a pig.

No, I'm not fat, I do exercise, I had NO chest pain and it went away in about 15 minutes. My wife feels that I was actually overheated.

I use a treadmill and bike daily/every other day and have since worked out and ridden again. However, after riding yesterday, about 28 degrees, I was more aware of regulating the heated jacket and when I pulled into the garage I started to "cool off" by de-layering and did not have the same problem

Any similar stories, opinions?

Thanks,

You can dehydrate in the cold just as quick as in the heat. You need to hydrate more often or just before and after riding. The heated gear is sucking out the fluids. (US Army master Fitness trainer). Been there, done that.

Thanks Gunner...So you agree with my wife, who was once an aerobics coordinator and instructor for a major fitness chain. A case of overheating even though I really did not feel hot?

When you hit middle age, at least me, you start getting paranoid about things.

I agree, you can actually Dehydrate quicker in the winter time than you do in the summer. Just because it’s cold out doesn’t change anything, you still need liquids to stay hydrated. Glad everthing worked out OK.
