Default Jiffy Stand ?Problem

My new Street Glide's jiffy stand makes me nervous!

The stand in my dyna locks slightly ahead of the takeoff from the frame of the bike.

The Street Glide seeems straight down or even slightly back. I can see nothing else wrong with it. On a level grade, it fine, but if a bit of an incline, looks like it will disengage & roll...fall.

Am I imagining this, or have others noted similar? Is this a feature of all baggers? or Street Glides? or do I have a problem?

Obviously don't want to drop a new bike, because of a faulty jiffy stand.

Any help appreciated!!!!

It CAN"T disengage when it is DOWN and will simply extend back an bit and lock if you push the bike forward. Only way it will fold back up is to lift the bike and take off the weight. Always extend it fully when you put it down! Have seen a couple go down when guys are checking out a chick and trying to look cool. Now that's embarassing, especially when it hits another bike on the way down!

Thanks for your reply.

I understand that it locks. It just seems to be a bit of movement prior to locking, that my other ride does not have.

Anyway, I suspect it is normal for this bike.

My '04 Ultra has done this from day one. The dealer said that was normal. Never seen it before until my '04.

The stand on my R'Glide makes me nervous too! As long as I have the front wheel turned fully to the left when the stand is down, it "feels" like it is locked in. But if (for whatever reason) I have the front wheel straight or turned fully right, the bike appears to roll forward a little on the stand and I don't feel comfortable taking my hands off of it - much less walking away. Neither one of my Dynas' stands did this so I'm thinking this is something particular to the touring models.

Note to PhilM... Remember when you and I first met at the dealer and I almost stroked out when I saw your R'Glide rocking forward on the stand as you got off? Doh!

Thanks fellas. At least someone else notices it. Somewhat reassuring.

My RKCustom does the same thing. One time I saw it move and I for a second thought I forgot to put the stand down, sheer terror, but it WAS down. I am used to its movement now, but I do double check before getting off!
