Default multi year storage

I need to store my 2007 Road King for 3+ years while I go overseas. Read all the threads on over the winter and 1 year storage. My first thought is drain gas and put a bag of something that will keep moisture out of the tank. But everyone seems to agree that gas in the tank is better than an empty tank. But for 3 years will Sta-bil work with the gas so it doesn't cause problems? I will drain the gas out when I get back and start with new when I get back. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

I would sell it. Yes I know we attached to our bikes. But,unless you have free storage in a controlled climate, it will rust as well as have some brake, tire, & battery issues when you get back. Run the numbers and you will see what I mean.

3 years overseas sounds military to me... Military will ship it as household goods. That's only valid to certain countries. Germany they will and last I checked, not to Japan.

Other countries I have no idea.

I disagree. You know up front you'll need new tires and battery after 3 years. That's a given. You can't be serious when you say sell it and buy new as a better alternative to storage on a bike. Please do run the numbers and tell me what they tell you. I know what they tell me and it storage all the way. Fill the tank, stabil it, pull the battery and get it preferably in a heated environment, covered with a breathable cover and up off the ground. You'll be OK with some prep after you get back. Best of luck to you and get back on that bike soon. Come riding with me if you get up in upstate ny.
