On a side note.....the Fatboy I owned before I got my Electraglide was s.m.o.o.t.h......
at all engine speeds. When I test rode a Electra glide before buying one, I wished it had a softail engine. Like it has been said already, Harley designed mine to shake.
Wierd, I know....and another 'comeback' would be "You have to ride one to understand."
Or how about......."It's grinding RICE."?
I have a 2007 Street Glide as well and it was smooth at idle and at speed until about 35000 kms and then it started jumping all over at idle but still smooth under load. It is away now for the winter but come spring, I will be changing out the lower front rubber engine mount which I understand is the source of the vibrations I was experiencing and may be your problem as well. There are many threads here on the subject if you search. Some even give details on what to order and how to do it yourself!
Double check all the mounts, not just the front. Maybe a bolt is loose. That being said my 2007 shakes more than some other 07, but nothing to bad. At speed smooth as silk. My evo shook bad, nature of the beast. Rode some softails that were always smooth, or had a bad shake at 70ish.
I rode with my buddies Yamaha STAR group last year and one of the guys asked me if my bike always shook so bad. I said, no, just when idling then it smooths right out. Someone else said "Man that engine idle is SIC, I wish mine would do that"
