BEWARE---biker roadblocks are the new way for states to rise money by harrasing bikers.
NY did it last year and wants to do keep doing it this year. ABATE has filed a class action law suit but will take time.
If you want to modify your scoot, join a biker rights org or lose your rights. Politicians will stop at nothing to raise money or take away your right to ride.
Look at what Myrtle Beach is trying to do.
Or you can choose to ignore it, just like the open borders no one thought that would happen but belive me its coming.
Actually NY has been doing bike road block for a few years and always impound a half dozen or so illegal bikes(stolen parts). However last year they received some federal money just for the purpose of "safety" roadblocks and the bikers and truckers suffered for it. There definetly selective enforcement, most metrics got license, registration, inspection, insurance card, and DOT sticker. Whereas a lot of HD's had numbers and pipes checked.
The bottom line is, harrasment of HD riders.....there are plently of stolen cars with hot parts
mostly foriegn such as Honda's...........
I cannot say it enough, when something like that happens , fax, call or write but let the powers that be know its not right and you wont put up with it.
Here's an idea, go harras the Drug dealers or round up all the illegals, na thats to much work much easier to get law abiding bikers.
When I got my first ticket in 25 yrs (11 over in a 40) the fl trooper asked for my DL and INS card (not reg) I showed him my MEDICARE CARD!! After he wrote me I thanked him for paying for my insurance!!!
well we dont have the roadblocks...(yet) here in quebec,
but the money grab goes on just the same...they have split the standard
drivers licence here between car and motorcycle (used to be all in 1 if you had both)
so double the price for our pleasure this year, and of course the registration, went from
318$ 2007 to 400$ something 2008, and the 2009 will be $518, next year i figure $600 something and 2011 will be $758....$1400+ if you own a sports bike...now tack on your
insurance ($600+ for touring bike bone stock) and you have the small fortune it costs to get the wheels on the pavement every summer...about $1400.
The DOT sticker on your helmet is all important and soon I fear that having a street legal stamp on your exhaust mufflers or pipes will be as well. Next will come emissions and we're not talking too far down the road either (time-wise)..
i had the exhaust pipe one already...got pulled over in the rain, the two of them shambled over and gave me the loud pipe speech, then the older of the two noticed the
factory stamp on the pipes and sent me on my way...guess he didnt think to check how
much i had drilled them out...SUCKER!!!
