Default Thank you one and all

Firstly, thank you all for your interest and assistance. Not sure how I am going to get through this but I took some notes and read every one of the 40 replies.
I did take the MC Safety Course. In Florida you must pass it before you can get a MC license. Got 100% on the written exam only because I read the booklet over and over. Also, 95% of what was in that booklet was totally new to me. How I survived 40-44 years ago is a mystery...but then traffic was less, not much road rage and none of them damn cell phones. "Cage drivers" (see I am learning) are really preoccupied with those phones to their ear...especially if they are angry with the person on the other end. On the riding portion of the test I got 8 demerits for putting my foot down in the figure 8 turn. And that was with little 250cc bikes. Purchased at Lowes 6 orange small H'way cones. Found a nice quiet, safe place to put them and practice.
Arizona...Just gorgeous machine. Red Hot Sunglo and Flame Blue Pearl were two of my earlier color choices. They are both Beautiful on the "King." I did not opt for the wheels because the back wheel was not visable...and the spoke rims looked better on the "Classic."
However, if I had a second chance not sure which way I would go.
If any riders with tubeless tires get a flat they can most likely get home or to a safe haven. Us guys with tube tires might have a serious problem if we get a flat tire.
It is also promising that older riders than me are still riding. I like that. As for posting pictures of the bike, that wil have to wait as I do not know how to do that. Do not have a digital camera and will have to learn how to scan 35mm photos and then tranfer. That may take some time.
Also, noted a few here had notridden in a long, long time and also got back into it. Harleypingman had a 4 decade lull like me. What strange twists of fate enter our lives. odd. Yes, this forum is truly
Great!! And, yes not getting any younger-if I did not take the time
to think things through I could esily have dismissed the idea and that would have been it. No second chance but I went for it and grabbed the golden ring.
I have heard of the "Ride Like a Pro" video and will look into it but it is probably too advanced for me at this juncture.
The dealer gave me membership into H.O.G. and I recently joined the local chapter. First meeting will be second tuesday in February.
They also give riding lessons, both for novice and experienced. They set up at the local dealership, Treasure Coast Harley in Stuart which is only 15 minutes from my home.
Yes, dog155....good point! I do feel YOUNGER already.
Beautiful bikes you have, all. Pride in them seems to be central and the Harley Davidson with it's history, mystique, prestige, classy looks and unique sound is at the top of the mountain by a mile.
Thanks again to you all. Ride Safe, and Ride with Pride on the Greatest two wheel machine in the world and that is my opinion.
Richie, The Teal Marlin

+ whatever on taking the safety course...
Of course a 2009 RK is smoother and more nimble than your Lightning.... 44 years is a LOT of improvements.... now you can ride without worring about spare spark plugs, chain links, oil, wrenches, will my POS Lucus lamps work at dusk etc.

great bike that Lightning, I started on a Triumph... but any modern bike is light years ahead in power, comfort, and agility. watch out for those old habits ( like slaming on the brakes with your LEFT foot... LOL I know I still catch myself)

Congratulations and ride safe. Love that color combination.....my first car was a 55 Chevy Belair 2 dr hardtop in that color. They have one sitting on the floor at my local Harley store. I try to avoid looking at it when I go in but, it draws me to it like a magnet.
