NYC is trying to pass a similar law, very strict with EPA stickers and so forth.. has to be less the 80DB . fines include 100 upto impound.... HD dealers will be out of luck on upgrades
The fellow's story about loud pipes reminds me of a woman that was complaining in the local paper about how she was tricked when she signed a lease on the apartment she was living in: she claimed they didn't tell her the train went by three times every night and sounded it's horn for several minutes right outside her window on the other side of the tree line. She said the train was so close it rattled the dishes in her cabinets..............
......the name of the apartments was Iron Horse Apartments
....or relate to the people that move to the suburbs and complain about the smell of a local dairy or pig farm......
..............people, like the ones I mention above, are the problem because they will complain to their politicians while the people that make the noise or create the smell go about their lives without paying attention to what these morons are trying to push onto them.
......all I can say about ABATE in New Hampshire is; they didn't recruit enough members to counter the whiners they were surrounded by.
First of all...bite me.
Second, I never said a word to anyone about it. Not the paper or the politicians.
Third, aim a few loud exhausts at your house and open to full throttle every 30 seconds all day Saturday and Sunday and tell me how you like it.
Finally, if the douchebags I'm complaining about would stop riding one mile down Main Street, turning around at Hayward's Ice Cream, riding one mile up Main Street, turning around outside my window and would...you know...actually go out and ride their f***ing motorcycle maybe there wouldn't be so many "whiners".
I hope it passes. The Feds definitely need to do something about our National Parks. I was in Yellowstone National Park taking it all in at an overlook on my quiet stock bike. Then, I hear a thunderous roar, and 3 guys with straight pipes come out across the valley. I could hear them for miles.
I agree, we just need the government to beat common sense into us instead of education and peer pressure of local biker enforcement. Has anyone encourage flyers and signs that say Quiet Please, Some folks arent bikders!. Maybe it is true, we are just a bunch of mind numb robots looking for the government to hold our hand. Thank goodness for the government because they are so much smarter than we are.

Beary
They sure are. Just ask them. Make sure you have a check in hand, though, so they'll talk to you.

Need some cheese for that whine and a steak for that black eye?
I'm sure they didn't ride their motorcycles in front of your house until after you bought it and I'm sure that whiners can't be cured of whining, that is why people that don't whine have to be pro-active and silence the lambs with a strong political presence.
Besides, what's makes you thing I'm talking about you?
I agree with the noise ordinance. It shouldn't be just for bikes though. It should be fair across the board. Cars and trucks also have straight pipes and are just as loud. Get a db rating that is reasonable and enforce the law equally to everyone.
As for the tach, thats BS as many bikes don't have them from the factory.
