I see lots of posts here saying the price of a Harley is inflated. I've owned bikes since I was 16 and I'm now 46, since I've been 16 I have wanted nothing more that to own an Ultra Classic and I finally took the plunge last year and purchased an 07 ultra classic which I'm trading in on an 09 ultra classic. You can bitch, complain, whine curse the price but in the end it's what makes a Harley a Harley... posession... If you want a "motorcycle" buy a honda, yamaha, suzuki, kawasaki and don't expect to belong to a "group" and if you think you "belong" you are sadly mistaken... You see the non Harley owners standing on the side lines admiring the haleys, wanting to come over and chat, but you and they know they don't belong. I didn't buy a Harley to hang out with honda, suzuki, yamaha, kawasaki riders... I spent the extra dollars to hang out/belong with an elite group of people who know what a Harley is... A MOTORCYCLE/FREEDOM/CLASS/LIFE STYLE... If you riders who hang out here on the Harley forum but ride a jap scrap think you have a right to talk to us, guess again.... You're nothing more than wannabees, get a life.

yep!
Its amazing how many internet tough guys on here put down our bikes.
And stand by for the inevitable "no man, I been riding since 1957 and I hate Harley's" post.
But notice where they hang out.
It's a bike....if I didn't have a Harley I'd have something else. It doesn't make me who I am, I make myself who/what I am. I'll talk to anybody, whether they ride a Harley a Honda or nothing at all.
You see, I don't have an identity crisis, I have an identity. I am many things before I am a biker.

So, why buy a Harley and spend $10,000.00 more that you need to to just hang out? People buy Harleys because they want to be part of an elite group of people/riders. Any body can buy a jap scrap, only the select few can afford to drop $30,000 on a Harley...
I guess I just don't measure up to your standards. I rode Jap bikes most of my life and this is my first Harley. I do love it but don't look at other riders as something less. My brother rides a DR400 and a V-Strom. He may purchase a BMW LT1200 for touring. He is still the person I like to hang out with the most. If owning a Harley means you think you are better than other riders, that is just kinda sad. It sounds to me you are compensating for your shortcomings.
I sure do hope that you are trying to stir the pot. If not, that means you actually believe that what you own makes you better than others. What a line of crap. I can say that I would dang sure not be riding with you and your beloved Harley. Have a nice ride and don't let the bugs go up that nose that is turned up to the rest of us average folks. By the way, I ususally don't get involved in this BS but let me be the first to say.... You are an A-- Whipe.

So why did you drop the extra money on a Harley if you were so giddy about riding a jap scrap????
Frankie, This is America..everyone has the right of free speech..along with that comes the unwritten right to ride what you want and associate with who you want...oh wait, I see your from Canada, I'm sorry. BcB
