In talking with the service manager about them I asked if they would increase engine heat. I was half joking. To my surprise he said yes. He said that with an Ultra Classic with the lowers they don't recommend putting them on because of the extra heat. He said for any other bike without the lowers it's not a problem. I thought how much extra heat could these cause. If anyone has these is this a concern of yours? Thanks for any opinions or input.
Dang, I was about to put a set of those on my bike too. I don't like the way it looks with the sparkplug sitting there, and I wanted to fill in that gap.
The service manager was referring to them blocking cooling air from flowing into that area around the plug. I didn't think there was much to what he said. The parts guy was there when he told me and thought it was a bit of an overstatement.
I have them. One of the first things I did. You don't notice what a difference they make until after you have them. It's one of those small details. I have never had any heat issues with them.
Do you also think, that with the vented lowers, if they were open, it would act the same as a bike with no lowers? I mean, the vent blows air across my legs, and my legs are in that area.
After my shorty antennas, I plan on getting some. I think they clean up the engine tremendously.
