Hey folks, I am the new guy. Just logged on. Coming to you from Mid TN. I am Riding a 2000 Ultra Classic I purchased while sitting in Afghanistan. I went 18 years without riding but I am back now. I have a few questions. I am currently running a Termial Velocity III but the fuel/air mixture is still lean. Can I run a Screamin Eagle EFI Race Tuner with my TVIII? Also I just got in some V&H true duals. Will this help eliminate some heat? Thanks.
What are the Andrews 26G's, Cams? I am about to have mine changed over to gear driven. I have 44K miles on the bike and the mechanic suggested it. Would you and would you upgrade the cams? Thanks. I the pleasure of serving is mine.
Yep, the 26G's are a mild cam upgrade that will provide more low end torque, especially good if you have a passenger. Best part is just getting rid of the plastic tensioners. Mine only went about 30k miles. If you have 44k on yours and they are the original tensioners, then you definitely should have them replaced, or better yet, replaced with geared cams. Sounds like you're doing that. Fortunately bikes of our vintage have very good crankshafts and work very well with geared cams. You'll be glad you got rid of the tensioners!
Do the true duals help eliminate some of the heat? I just got in the header pipes and I will have my mechanic install them then also. Do you have problems running high temps? Mine will run around 230 or better in the summer on the highway.
Welcome from NC. I run the V&H bigshots and the under-the-seat heat may be little less. The big difference is in the true duals sound with a performance gain.
Thanks NC. I already have V&H Dresser slip ons. I guess I will have to drill a hole in the new header pipe for the oxygen sensor. Does your bike run real lean also? I got some pinging when I was up near your area (Cherahola Skyway) with my wife and a full load.
