I got a much longer one, cut the chrome mounting tabs off so it was now just a strap and stapled the crap out of it from underneath with some short staples and not near the edges so they do not poke through and also used some adhesive silicone, I am no weak little sister and I pulled on it pretty darn hard and it stayed on fine.

You guys took an OEM part, supplied by Harley Davidson OFF your bikes? Whats up with that?

mine is still on... I use it to strap the helmets to if my tour pack is full...

I took mine off, makes easier to change seat without it...

I stuffed mine under the seat but may remove it completely in the future.
