Just got a 09 Road King Classic and the seat hurts my *** already.
Thinking about a Mustang solo seat. Anyone got Mustang seats or good advice on a comfortable seat?
I just ordered a Mustang solo + pillion for my scoot. Sat on the sundowner, and while comfortable, brought me up to much. The mustang sat me lower and back.
I just put the Mustang solo with passenger pillion on my 09 Ultra, had the same thing on my 07 SG and loved it, many 500 mile days no problem. When I bought my 07 SG the stock seat was not good, bought a Ultra Classic seat and it wasn't any better, bought a pillow seat and it didn't work, then bought a Sundowner seat and it didn't help any, finally bought a Mustang solo and used it over 13000 happy miles. When I bought the 09 Ultra the Mustang solo wasn't available yet so I bought a new 08 model Sundowner and it actually was pretty comfy on some short rides we went on but as soon as the Mustang was available I wanted one because it was so nice on the other bike for both of us. You can't go wrong with the Mustang, just keep in mind when you get it that it will take atleast 500 miles on it for it to get broke in, I have about 300 on my new one and it's still pretty firm right now but I can tell it's getting better.
I have an 09 RKC and today I ordered the Mustang Solo Touring with backrest.
I wanted a drivers backrest and will ride occasionally with the detachable Tour Pak. I struggled for a while whether to go with two up or solo setup. So I mounted the 4 point docking which will allow a change to two up later by adding pillion and changing the rack.
Bout 500 miles on my Corbin dual heat tour w/backrest.I don't know what could be better. My stock Ultra seat was fine for 50miles then it turned into something used at Gitmo. to gather information.
If you like the style of the seat, having it modified with closed-cell foam would probably be much cheaper than a new seat.
I'm a big Corbin fan myself - But wanted to keep the stock seat on my SG. Had a local guy add an inch of closed cell (such as Corbin uses) foam under the thinned out open-cell stock foam. It's freaking wonderful...
I just sent my 09 Ultra seat off to MeanCityCycles.com in NC, They will rework the seat with 2 seperate layers of hospital grade memory foam and fit the seat to your weight, height, and inseam for 120.00. Sure beats the cost of a new seat and a whole lot more comfortable.
